In 2010 I returned to Caracas to inspect the wall and the work Five Columns. The work had been well looked after during the fifteen years, but now was looking a bit worse for ware. I had no hesitation is authorising the works erasure, as the wall was damp and could not be repaired without removing the work. However I was not aware of how much the new meaning of the work had overtaken the original ideas. When I went back in April 2011 I was able to apologise for authorising the destruction of the work on the grounds that it was not my work anymore.
